The fractional aircraft ownership company PlaneSense, which currently operates a fleet consisting exclusively of Pilatus PC-12 turboprops, has placed an order for five Nextant 400XTi remanufactured business jets. The total purchase price was approximately $25.75 million. With the new jets, PlaneSense will be able to expand the mission range available to its members.
Cleveland’s Nextant Aerospace refurbishes older-model aircraft with upgraded engines, avionics, cabins, and more (what the company calls “remanufacturing”). Known for its reliable performance at high elevation and varying temperatures, the Nextant 400XTi—a remanufactured Beechjet powered by a Williams FJ44-3AP engine and equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 cockpit avionics—has a range of 2,160 miles with an operating cost of just more than $2 per mile. Each Nextant jet undergoes 6,000 man-hours of renovation and 500 individual inspections before entering service.
PlaneSense plans to add the first Nextant jet to its fleet in June, with the second one landing early in the fourth quarter. Delivery dates for the remaining three jets remain up in the air.
